family reunion in the country and memorial day photo dump....and stuff

we had an extremely busy, fun, and tiring weekend. saturday we left for kobby's family reunion in east texas. deep, deep in the country. lots of country roads, bugs, and monster mosquitos.

we ate a lot. we swam at the hotel pool (which the girls loved). and we just hung out with family. it was a good time had by all.

we rolled back into town monday afternoon, put the girls down for a nap, then headed on over to our friends house for a little get together with some other friends from church.

after a great time hanging out with our church fam, we just had to make a stop by our house to see what's been up over there :)

things are looking good over there and we are thrilled. today we were able to meet our left side neighbors and we were able to walk through the house and the backyard again. it is coming along so fast. more pics to come next week! have a great week!

weekend recap

we had a really great weekend filled with fun and family. what could be better?

so friday night kobby and the girls went off to their last daddy/daughter dance rehearsal while i headed over to my crafty friend's house to bling out the girls daddy/daughter dance shirts.

then saturday morning our crazy schedule began. i had to have landry at the metrocenter for full on dress rehearsal at 8:30 am. thank you Jesus for my momma. she had landry for the night and got up with her to do her hair and make up because as many of you know, i don't wear a stitch of make up so i darn sure don't know how to apply it. i met my mom up there to retrieve my little beauty

finley had her last t-ball game at that same time that her daddy was to take her to....he decided not to take her (that's another post for another time) and i was not happy about it. at all. moving on, finley had to be at her dress rehearsal at 10:30 am, then kobby, finley, and landry had to be at their daddy/daughter dress rehearsal at 12:30.

if you're wondering what this daddy/daughter thing is, it is the end of recital performance that they do every year with all the dads and their daughters. it is so great! they have a few rehearsals before the actual day and the whole thing is a secret from the moms so the surprise is so cool. and i just love seeing my man up there with his babies rocking it out.

so then we had to be at the actual recital around 4:30. after all of the dances, costume changes, and running back and forth, we were finally able to get out of there at around 8:30. the girls were so cute and i'm so proud of them! we went to dinner with the fam and then the girls went home with my mom. none of this could've happened as well as it did without the help of my mom and mil. they were both so helpful the entire day.

kobby and i went to church on sunday, drove by to see the house (sorry no pics, but we have windows!), then picked up the kiddos. after their nap we went outside to hang for a while with the pups. kobby grilled steaks and some chicken for the week, we had dinner, bathed the girls, then we were all in bed. sufficiently WIPED OUT. such a tiring weekend, but so great. enjoy the photos!

today is book club friday hosted by megan at a day in the life.

i just finished this book and i could not put it down. it was so good. i think this is the first book i've read by this author and i think i'm hooked. i plan on reading much more by her. i love books about family relationships, and this didn't disappoint.




this is what i'm reading now. very powerful and i'm enjoying it. this should be a quick read, then back to my fiction.

what i'm loving wednesday

i'm loving that the pest control guy came AGAIN today and we should finally be rid of these darn flying ant thingamajigs. i am going nuts!!!

i'm loving that this weekend is the girls' recital. for 2 reasons really. i can't wait to see them dance in each of their routines and also with daddy. priceless! also, there is a ton of preparation and time that we have to put into it so the end is looking pretty good right about now.

i'm loving that my 3 yr old says lello (yellow) and stister (sister). i know its wrong to let her keep saying it without correcting her, but it is just so stinkin cute! don't worry, i won't let her go into the real world like that.

i'm loving that my birthday is coming up in july and we are planning a day/night at a lakehouse with friends. very low key, but soooooo me, and so greatly needed. i can't wait for the jet skiing, sunbathing, grilling, blah, blah, blah..... yippee!

i'm loving that since we (really kobby) have been walking and playing with our puppy more she has stopped digging so much and chewing on everything in sight. love that sweet callie girl.

i'm loving carol's daughter hair care for my daughters. i tried to stray away from it and try something else because they are limited in where they sell it so i usually end up ordering online. the "substitute" i bought just wasn't cutting it so i went to the dept. store today and bought what i needed.

i'm loving that summer's coming up and i have so many things planned for the girls and i to do. fun times! at least that's what i keep telling myself. ha!

i'm loving this place!

this is my new house! i know it doesn't look like much now, but it will soon and we could not be more excited about it! now we just have to sell this other one....

this weekend was landry's last t-ball game so the coach, aka daddy, gave out all the awards after a nice celebration lunch at double dave's pizza. she could not have been prouder to get that award


i cannot get enough of that face and the look she had made me tear up a little. she just could not stop smiling. my kids love a trophy! love her so......

today i'm saying SO WHAT if....

 it just occured to me that i haven't showered today (i have since showered since beginning this post at 4pm)

 i really need to have a coke every day in order to function normally

 95% of our dvr is filled with complete trash that only i watch. so much is on there that it starts erasing things randomly every day

 i put so much money on our gap card in the last couple of months that they sent us a $40 off coupon in our statement! $40??!! i didn't even know those existed. needless to say, i am completely grounded from the gap for a while.

 i have a major addiction to barnes and noble. i have more books right now than i know what to do with. ahhh, heaven. i just like looking at them.

 i really don't get anything done around here until after noon. i just function better then.

 i'm volunteering at a concert at church on friday night because i get in free. what can i say? i heart jimmy needham

so years ago i began a love affair with emily giffin and everything she wrote. it started with this...

i just could.not.put.it.down. and i'm sure many of you felt the same way. so when she came out with this

i was ecstatic! i love it just as much as the first. and i've loved everything of hers that i've read after that. so tonight my good friend nikki and i (she's also obsessed with books) went to see this

and it was good. not as good as the book, of course, but good enough to force me to reread something blue because i can't wait to see what happens with darcy, dex, rachel, and ethan. so after i finish my current read i'm all over that. oh, and emily makes an appearance in the movie. don't blink cuz you might miss her.

i'm sure i have, but i cannot remember the last time. the thought of it now just grosses me out.

yes. in high school i failed spanish. it was advanced and really hard. seriously people!

{three} where do you go to get your favorite hamburger/cheeseburger?
oh, where do i begin?? i LOVE cheeseburgers! if i want something quick i go to whataburger, but for a sit down meal there are several that i like a lot. simply burgers, smashburger, my husband :)

no. i don't even think i've ever been called to serve. weird huh?

{five} how old were you when you moved out of your parents’ house?
well, first when i went away for college at 18, then again at 23 i think

I love wearing black, pink, red, and charcoal grey

black flip flops. i adore wearing flip flops so you know i am thrilled about this warmer weather, although i wear them anytime.
